Israeli Ministry of Construction Revokes Licenses of Five Contractors Over Employment Violations

The Registrar of Contractors at Israel's Ministry of Construction and Housing revoked the licenses of five contractors last week after investigations revealed that the engineering professionals listed as the basis for their licenses were not actually employed by the companies. The affected companies are A.K. Abu Shaheen Earthworks and Commerce Ltd., Mordechai Schwartzberg, Issa Marom Manpower and Security Ltd., Armenia Construction Ltd., and Lomco Group Entrepreneurship and Construction Ltd.

The Ministry's inquiry found that these professionals, whose employment was declared during the licensing process, were not working for the companies as claimed. Verification was conducted through National Insurance data, inquiries with the companies where these professionals were actually employed, and interviews with the workers themselves. The contractors were summoned for hearings before the Registrar of Contractors, with investigators from the Ministry of Labor's Occupational Regulation Administration participating. The investigation also examined the professional responsibility of the individuals who served as the basis for the licenses.

The Ministry emphasized that contractors must continuously comply with licensing conditions and ensure that the professionals upon whom their registration is based are genuinely employed by the company in accordance with the law. This enforcement action underscores the Ministry's commitment to maintaining professional standards in the construction sector.
