Wife of Southern Crime Boss Released from Custody Amid Economic Crime Probe

The wife of alleged crime boss Eyal Nagar was released from custody by the Ashkelon Magistrate's Court on Monday under restrictive conditions. She had been arrested two weeks prior along with her husband and other associates on suspicion of economic offenses. The police had requested a delay in the release order, intending to decide whether to appeal to the District Court.

Nagar's wife, who is suspected of involvement in economic crimes within a large-scale investigation, was arrested as part of a probe into dozens of criminals suspected of extortion and taking over food deliveries in Ashdod, as well as pressuring restaurants in the city. The court noted in its decision that the couple's children are currently without both parents, and her involvement is limited to economic offenses, deeming it time for her release.

Her husband, Eyal Nagar, remains in custody. His arrest was extended again, two weeks after his initial detention with several gang members and his wife. A source close to Nagar told Walla that he is exercising his right to remain silent during interrogations, stating that Nagar does not trust the police and believes he has been targeted for years. The source added that Nagar is confident in his innocence and expects the case to be closed, as has happened previously.

Police sources maintain that the investigation is ongoing and that they possess evidence linking Nagar and his associates to the takeover of restaurant deliveries in Ashdod and the extortion of local eateries.
