Crime Boss Eyal Nagar Refuses to Cooperate with Police Investigation

Crime boss Eyal Nagar, identified as the head of a criminal organization in southern Israel, is expected to have his detention extended for another two weeks. Nagar was initially arrested two weeks ago along with several associates and his wife. A source close to Nagar told Walla news that the crime boss is "not speaking in investigations, exercising his right to remain silent" and "does not trust the police." The source added that Nagar claims he has been targeted for years, is certain of his innocence, and believes the case will be closed, as has happened in previous arrests.

Nagar's wife was also arrested and will appear for a detention extension hearing on Monday. Police sources claim the investigation is ongoing and they possess evidence linking Nagar and his associates to the takeover and extortion of restaurants and delivery services in Ashdod. Nagar's lawyer, Uri Ben Natan, stated that his client has been held for two weeks without any evidence being presented against him.

Nagar, who was arrested in Ashdod, is suspected of extortion and taking over restaurants and delivery lines in the city. He was previously detained for seven days by the Ashkelon Magistrate's Court. Nagar, an ally of the recently murdered crime boss Beni Shlomo, has become a primary target for the Israeli police since the dissolution of Shlomo's organization. Following Shlomo's assassination, Nagar reportedly brokered a peace deal with his sworn enemies, the Levi brothers, a pact that has reportedly held. This alliance, however, has led some members of Shlomo's former organization to view Nagar as a "traitor," sparking turf wars.
