Most Popular Names for First Graders Revealed by Population Authority
As the new school year approaches, Israel's Population and Immigration Authority has released the most popular names for children entering first grade. For boys across all population groups, Muhammad is the most common name. For girls, Tamar ranks first nationwide.
In the Jewish sector specifically, Ariel is the most popular name for boys entering first grade, followed by David, Lavi, and Uri. For girls within the Jewish sector, Tamar also holds the top spot, with Yael, Adele, Lia, and Ella appearing further down the list.
Nationwide, after Muhammad for boys, the names Yosef, Adam, David, and Omer complete the top five. For girls across the entire population, Tamar is followed by Miriam, Abigail, Adele, and Sarah in the top five.
The data was published just days before the start of the school year, with thousands of new students set to begin their educational journey across Israel.
