Most Popular Names for First Graders Revealed by Immigration Authority
As the new school year approaches, Israel's Population and Immigration Authority has released data on the most common names for incoming first-graders. For boys, Muhammad is the most popular name overall. Among girls, Tamar leads the list.
In the general population of boys, Joseph ranks second, followed by Adam, David, and Omer. For Jewish boys entering first grade, Ariel is the most frequent name, followed by David, Lavi, and Uri.
For girls, Tamar is the most common name overall. Miriam comes in second, with Abigail and Adele following. Sarah rounds out the top five.
Within the Jewish population of girls, Tamar remains the top choice. Yael is third, and Adele is fifth. Leah and Ella are listed at ninth and tenth place, respectively.
