Three convicted men arrested after months on the run from prison terms
Police arrested three Arab men on Monday who had evaded reporting to serve prison sentences imposed by Israeli courts, according to the police enforcement operation "Stopping at Red." The men had reportedly avoided custody for months and were taken in for questioning before being transferred to prison to begin serving their terms after legal procedures are completed.
The first detainee is a 30-year-old resident of Hebron. He was supposed to report in February for a prison sentence handed down last year, but failed to appear and became a fugitive from the sentence.
The second is a 31-year-old resident of Yatta who also did not show up to serve a prison term ordered by the court last year. Police said he had been evading enforcement since the start of this year.
The third detainee, a 43-year-old resident of Yatta, was arrested after failing to report in early February to serve a sentence imposed in October last year. All three were taken to the Hebron police station for investigation, and officials said they will be imprisoned once the proceedings are completed.
