Tel Aviv Police Detain Two Actors After Filmed “Robbery” Turns Out to Be a Movie Scene
A large police force was dispatched on Sunday to Henrietta Sald Street in Tel Aviv after reports of what appeared to be an armed robbery in progress. When officers arrived, they discovered that the incident was apparently only a film shoot that had not been coordinated with police.
Despite the apparent explanation, police arrested two men at the scene on suspicion of unlawful possession of a weapon and negligent transfer of a weapon without authorization. One of the suspects, a man in his 60s from Ramat HaSharon who was both an actor and the production’s director, and the other, a 72-year-old acting teacher from Ramat Gan, were taken to the Tel Aviv Lev police station for questioning. After the investigation, they were released under restrictive conditions.
According to the report, the real handgun used in the shoot belonged to one of the suspects and was seized by police. One of the men allegedly brought the gun to the filming location and handed it to the other actor. That led to separate suspicions of unauthorized transfer and unlawful possession.
Police said the investigation is still in its early stages, but at this point they expect indictments to be filed against those involved.
