Israeli Police Arrest Two Suspects in Killing of Caucasian Mafia Leader Yanis Yusubov

Israeli police arrested two suspects in the murder of Yanis Yusubov, head of the Caucasian mafia, in Hadera on Tuesday. The arrests were made in cooperation with the Yamam counterterrorism unit. Yusubov was fatally shot outside a restaurant near a gas station complex close to Caesarea. According to initial investigation details, Yusubov had arrived at the location with others for a meeting. As he exited the restaurant and approached his car, an assassin waited by the entrance and shot him at point-blank range. He was critically wounded, and Magen David Adom paramedics performed resuscitation before transporting him to Hillel Yaffe Hospital in Hadera, where he was pronounced dead.

Yanis Yusubov was a well-known figure in organized crime, having gained significant power in Hadera and its surroundings over recent years. His name was linked to numerous criminal cases and conflicts in the area. His lawyer, Rotem Cohen, stated that most of Yusubov's arrests in recent years did not lead to substantial evidence, resulting in repeated court orders for his immediate release. Cohen described Yusubov as a legitimate businessman and a father of young children and expressed condolences to the family.

The investigation into the murder is ongoing, with authorities focusing on the suspects' roles and motives. The killing marks a significant development in the crackdown on organized crime in northern Israel.
