Trump Says Oil Tankers Are Moving Again Through Hormuz as U.S.-Iran Deal Advances
U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Monday on X that shipping is resuming through the Strait of Hormuz. He wrote that “ships are starting to move, many of them loaded with oil, out of the Strait of Hormuz,” and said they are sailing along the “southern route,” which he described as “completely safe, secure and clean,” adding that “there are also other shipping routes.”
The statement came as Washington advances a memorandum of understanding with Iran. Speaking to CNBC before Trump’s post, Vice President J. D. Vance said the deal prevents Iran from getting the money it would need to rebuild its nuclear program.
Vance said some people in Israel like the wording of the agreement, which he hopes can be published as early as this week. He also said, “Israel will definitely have a place at the table in the new Middle East.”
The vice president added that the signing ceremony expected this coming Friday is likely to include the parliamentary speaker, the foreign minister, and other senior officials.
