Ancient Eden Wedding Custom Marked Grandson of Community Rabbi's Marriage

Large crowds gathered to celebrate the wedding of Eliashiv, a distinguished student at Hebron Yeshiva and the grandson of Rabbi Natanel Zechariah, the rabbi of the Eden community. The groom is the son of Rabbi Michael Zechariah, a mashgiach at Torat David Yeshiva, and the grandson of Rabbi Ovadia Karaouni. The bride is the daughter of Rabbi Itan Gabra, one of the heads of Ohel Torah Yeshiva, and the granddaughter of Rabbi Meir Gabra and Rabbi Shmuel Oukashi.

Just minutes before the chuppah, the community held the traditional Tevlis ceremony, described as an ancient sacred custom of Eden. During the rite, the groom was dressed in special ornate garments reserved for the occasion, while the crowd held lit candles in their hands.

Many attendees also recited from a special booklet printed for the celebration, which included expressions of gratitude and praise to God for His abundant kindness. The ceremony added a solemn and festive moment to the wedding before the marriage canopy began.
