Former Kulanu MK Roy Folkman Joins Gadi Eizenkot’s Yisrael Party After Rift with Gilad Erdan

Roy Folkman, a former member of the Knesset from the Kulanu party, has surprised many by joining Gadi Eizenkot’s Yisrael party. In recent months, Folkman had been heavily involved in helping Gilad Erdan establish his new political party, 'The Unity,' including building its technical platform and recruiting candidates. Folkman was seen as an integral part of Erdan’s team and was expected to run for the Knesset or hold a managerial role within the party.

However, sources reveal that a major fallout occurred between Folkman and Erdan shortly after the party’s formation. Given the party’s poor polling and lack of momentum, Folkman decided to leave and align himself with Eizenkot, where he is reportedly guaranteed a realistic spot on the Knesset list. According to Eizenkot’s associates, the former IDF Chief of Staff personally invited Folkman to join Yisrael to strengthen the party with experienced parliamentary professionals.

Folkman’s move reflects a search for a new political home that better matches his views, particularly on security and diplomatic issues, which are said to align more closely with Eizenkot than with Erdan. Eizenkot praised Folkman’s extensive political and parliamentary experience, highlighting his ability to lead stable coalition work and implement reforms.

Additionally, Yisrael announced the joining of MK Elazar Stern from Yesh Atid, who emphasized his commitment to responsible leadership and unity in Israeli society. Both Folkman and Stern expressed confidence in Eizenkot’s leadership and vision for a professional, national-focused government.

This development signals a reshuffling of political alliances ahead of the 2026 elections, with Eizenkot’s party seeking to consolidate experienced figures to enhance its parliamentary prospects.
