Israeli Liquor Store Worker Arrested for Running Extensive Drug Trafficking Network

An investigation into domestic violence at a police station in Beit Shean led to the uncovering of a large-scale drug trafficking operation. The suspect, a man in his 50s and a liquor store clerk in Beit Shean, was arrested in early July after being suspected of assaulting and threatening his wife. During the technological analysis of his mobile phone, police discovered extensive evidence of drug dealing activities, which surprised even the investigators.

According to the indictment filed at the Tiberias Magistrate's Court, the suspect used his workplace and daily interactions with customers to conduct drug transactions, some of which took place inside the store. One charge specifies that he sold cannabis to a 17-year-old minor. Police investigator Kfir Avitan explained that the phone was initially examined to find evidence of domestic violence, but numerous drug-related communications emerged, revealing dozens of drug deals.

Avitan noted that the suspect continued working at the store until his arrest and treated drug dealing as a supplementary income source, systematically guiding customers on how to contact him and supply drugs. Besides the drug trafficking charges, the suspect faces a separate indictment for violent acts against his wife, including physical assault that caused significant injuries and multiple death threats over several months.

The suspect now faces multiple charges including assault causing injury, threats against his partner, drug trafficking on numerous occasions, criminal conspiracy, and involving a minor in drug offenses.
