Knife Attack in Lakewood Road Rage Incident Injures Teen and Leads to Car Theft Arrests

A violent road rage incident involving two vehicles escalated into a stabbing and car theft in the ultra-Orthodox city of Lakewood over the weekend. The confrontation began near the Food-Ex store on Princeton Street between a group of Jewish teens and Hispanic teens in a separate car. The dispute intensified as the suspects called reinforcements and pursued the Jewish teens throughout the city, creating dangerous situations on the road.

The chase culminated near 10th Street and Clifton Avenue, where the attackers blocked the road, exited their vehicle, and threatened the Jewish teens. During the heated confrontation, one suspect brandished a knife and attempted to stab a Jewish teen but accidentally wounded one of his own friends instead. The injured teen required medical treatment. Concurrently, another suspect exploited the chaos to steal the Jewish teens’ car, which police recovered shortly afterward nearby.

Lakewood police launched an intensive investigation involving dozens of officers and youth detectives, leading to multiple arrests. The main suspect faces serious charges including aggravated assault and possession of a weapon, while another is charged with vehicle theft. Authorities emphasized there is currently no evidence suggesting antisemitic motives, describing the incident as a road rage escalation with criminal consequences.
