Electricity Restored in Modiin Illit After Outage, Long-Term Solution to Be Examined

Following a recent power outage affecting parts of Modiin Illit over the past weekend, the Israel Electric Corporation announced that repair teams have completed their work and electricity supply has been fully restored to all residents. During the incident, crews worked to identify the cause of the failure and carried out necessary network repairs. Concurrently, an investigation was launched into the reasons behind the unusually high electricity demand recorded in the area. Preliminary findings indicate that peak consumption in Modiin Illit exceeded the levels for which the electrical grid was originally designed. The Israel Electric Corporation noted that some of this discrepancy stems from unreported connections and additional consumption that were not accounted for in infrastructure planning and load management. Such conditions can place excessive strain on existing infrastructure during peak hours, increasing the risk of supply failures. Tomorrow morning, a joint professional inspection will be conducted by Israel Electric Corporation personnel and representatives from the Modiin Illit municipality. This field survey will assess the current infrastructure, identify load hotspots, and evaluate both present and future electricity needs of the city. The goal is to collaboratively develop a comprehensive, long-term solution that will enhance the reliability of electricity supply and minimize the likelihood of similar outages recurring.
