Rabbi Masoud Ben Shimon Leads 40-Day Prayer Vigil in Meron Ahead of Hoshanah Rabbah

As the month of Elul progresses, Jewish communities prepare for the High Holy Days, seeking spiritual merit before the Days of Judgment. Starting Monday, the 11th of Elul, Rabbi Masoud Ben Shimon will begin a unique 40-day prayer sequence at the holy site of Meron. This continuous prayer initiative, organized by the emissaries of Kuppat Ha'Ir, will culminate precisely on Hoshanah Rabbah, the final day of judgment when divine decrees are sealed.

The choice of dates is deliberate, aligning the 40th day of prayer with Hoshanah Rabbah to maximize spiritual impact. According to the Zohar, praying for 40 consecutive days ensures that prayers are answered. Each night, prayers will be offered on behalf of Kuppat Ha'Ir donors, with Rabbi Ben Shimon personally reciting each donor's name to be inscribed and sealed for a good and peaceful life.

A special document will be signed by Rabbi Ben Shimon at the start of the prayers, affirming the commitment to this spiritual endeavor and the donors' merit. The funds collected support impoverished families and hungry children, combining charity with prayer to avert harsh decrees. The opening ceremony is set for Monday, and those wishing to have their names included from the first day are urged to register promptly.

This initiative intertwines the three key elements believed to overturn harsh divine judgments during this season: repentance, prayer, and charity. By linking donations with an extended prayer vigil at Meron, the organizers aim to secure blessings and a favorable judgment for all participants in the upcoming year.
