Jonathan Pollard Joins 'Israel First' Party, Supports Sharren Haskel Ahead of Elections

Jonathan Pollard announced on Sunday his decision to join the "Israel First" party led by Knesset member Sharren Haskel and expressed his support for the party in the upcoming elections. The announcement was made in a joint statement near the Western Wall in Jerusalem. Pollard, who had declared his intention to enter politics in June, stated that he believes in Haskel and her approach. He explained that he chose to support the party because it represents a Zionist and nationalist leadership that prioritizes Israel's security and unapologetically upholds the Jewish character of the state.

Sharren Haskel, the party chair, welcomed Pollard's joining, calling it a significant boost for "Israel First." She described the trust Pollard placed in her as a great honor and responsibility, emphasizing that the party will work to strengthen security, settlement, and Jerusalem. Additionally, retired Lieutenant Colonel Roy Danino commented on Pollard's joining, stating it is a meaningful reinforcement of a Zionist and nationalist path that prioritizes Israel's security and future.
