Elderly Baal Shem Tov Hasid Rabbi Eliyahu Drabermediker Passes Away at 72

Rabbi Eliyahu Drabermediker, a revered elder and prominent figure in the Baal Shem Tov Hasidic community, passed away on Sunday morning at the age of 72 after a recent decline in health. He was the son of the legendary synagogue official Rabbi Ze'ev Drabermediker and a descendant of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berditchev, known as the 'Advocate of Israel.'

Born in 1954, Rabbi Drabermediker married the daughter of Rabbi Yechezkel Toyzig, author of 'Tiferet Yechezkel,' and settled in Jerusalem. Renowned for his scholarly excellence and spiritual stature, he served for decades as a beloved examiner of thousands of yeshiva students, earning great respect from educational leaders. He was credited with raising a blessed generation, including 13 children actively engaged in Torah study and religious leadership.

Among his sons is Rabbi Yechezkel Drabermediker, a leading Baal Shem Tov rabbi and community leader in Modi'in Illit and Bnei Brak. Rabbi Eliyahu Drabermediker's funeral took place at 11:30 a.m. from the Shamgar funeral home in Jerusalem, proceeding through the main Baal Shem Tov synagogue on Malchei Yisrael Street, and concluding with burial at Har HaMenuchot cemetery. The community mourns the loss of a spiritual pillar and scholar whose legacy continues through his family and students.
