Jewish Visitor from New York Brutally Attacked in Surfside, Florida Over Religious Hatred
Jordan Steven Prozo, 35, was arrested last Wednesday at the restaurant where he works in Surfside, Florida, after allegedly attacking and verbally abusing a Jewish man due to his religious and ethnic background. The incident took place Sunday evening on Harding Avenue near Highway 95. The victims, Abraham and his wife Sophia, visitors from New York, were leaving a restaurant when Prozo, riding an electric scooter, approached and hurled anti-Semitic slurs, calling them "evil demons." He struck Abraham on the head and threatened, "Now you are going to die" and "Get away before I kill you." Sophia recorded part of the attack on her phone and noted that Prozo also tried to harm her until an elderly passerby shouted at him in Spanish, causing him to flee.
Surfside Police Chief Jay Matlis emphasized that such behavior will not be tolerated by law enforcement. Records show this is not Prozo's first run-in with authorities; in June, he was arrested on suspicion of cutting a giant inflatable World Cup ball in Miami Beach. Abraham and Sophia thanked the police for their swift response and stated the attack will not deter them from continuing to visit South Florida.
