Security official says Iran deal does not require Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon
A security source clarified that the agreement with Iran does not include any Israeli commitment to pull back from Lebanese territory. The official said the IDF has been instructed to stabilize its control line, including in the Beaufort area, and to prepare for a ceasefire.
According to the source, Israeli forces expanded their activity overnight and captured Tibnin. The official stressed that civilians will not be allowed to return to areas under IDF control.
“There is still a lot of work to do in the areas we captured,” the source said. The remarks were made against the backdrop of the deal with Iran and were meant to address concerns about Israel’s position in Lebanon.
