Man Breaks Into 91-Year-Old Woman’s Home in Kiryat Bialik, Caught After Claiming He Came Only to Eat
A 45-year-old man from Kiryat Bialik was arrested and indicted for breaking into the home of an elderly couple in the northern Israeli city. The incident occurred while the 91-year-old woman, who relies on an oxygen tank, was sleeping in the living room. The suspect stole her mobile phone placed beside her and attempted to flee.
The suspect was surprised to encounter the woman's son as he was leaving. When confronted, he claimed, "I came only to eat," before escaping. Police from the Zevulun station quickly responded, collecting forensic evidence and witness statements that led to the suspect’s identification and arrest.
Following his detention and investigation, the Zevulun prosecution filed formal charges of residential burglary and theft, along with a request to keep him in custody until the conclusion of legal proceedings. Security footage released by the police shows the suspect entering and hastily exiting the building before running away down the street and nearby alley.
This case highlights the swift police response and forensic work that led to the suspect’s capture shortly after the crime was reported.
