Pregnant Woman in Advanced Stage Dies at Soroka Hospital, Fetus Delivered Stillborn
A woman in her forties from southern Israel, pregnant for the seventh time and at 34 weeks gestation, was admitted to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba due to abdominal pain. Her condition rapidly deteriorated, leading to an emergency surgery during which the fetus was delivered stillborn. Despite intensive care efforts, the woman passed away the following day. Soroka Hospital has reported the case to the Ministry of Health, which is conducting a thorough investigation. Medical sources described the complication as rare but did not disclose further details. This tragedy follows a series of similar incidents in the past year, including the sudden death of Reut Cohen and her twins at 28 weeks gestation, which prompted the Ministry of Health to form a review committee. The recent case highlights ongoing concerns about rare pregnancy complications and maternal mortality in Israel.
