Family Demands Answers Four Months After Pregnant Woman's Death in Israeli Hospitals

Four months after the tragic death of 35-year-old Reut Cohen, who was carrying twins at 28 weeks, her family continues to seek answers about the circumstances surrounding her passing. Cohen died at Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba after collapsing at home. Despite advanced resuscitation efforts for her and the twins, all attempts to save them failed. The family claims that a week before her death, Cohen sought care at Sheba Medical Center feeling unwell but was discharged, a claim the hospital denies, stating she received comprehensive and professional treatment according to strict medical standards. She also visited Meir Medical Center prior to her death, where she was reportedly discharged in stable condition.

Following the death, the Ministry of Health announced the formation of an investigative committee to examine the case. However, Cohen's brother, Itay, says no progress has been made and accuses the authorities of delaying the investigation, possibly due to the political climate and upcoming elections. He emphasized the family's ongoing fight for justice for Reut and her twins, Arbel and Tavor, expressing frustration over the silence and lack of transparency.

The Ministry of Health responded by expressing condolences and confirming that the committee will convene next month. It stated that the investigation process is thorough and time-consuming, involving gathering information and testimonies from the family and medical staff. The ministry assured that the findings will be published transparently after the report is shared with the family, in accordance with the law.
