Three-Month-Old Baby's Body Transferred Under Police Escort Amid Ultra-Orthodox Opposition in Beit Shemesh

A three-month-old infant found dead in Beit Shemesh's Ramat neighborhood was transferred from Shaare Zedek Medical Center to a private CT facility in Jerusalem for examination, following opposition from ultra-Orthodox groups. The hospital located a private CT institute to conduct the scan, which it is funding, after ultra-Orthodox activists threatened protests against transferring the body to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute.

ZAKA, accompanied by Border Police forces, moved the infant's body to St. Joseph Hospital, where the CT scan will be performed. Shaare Zedek clarified to the ultra-Orthodox groups that the body was no longer at their facility and was not being sent to Abu Kabir as previously reported. After the CT scan is completed and with police and prosecution approval, the infant's body is expected to be released for burial.

The infant had died after failing to wake from sleep. Emergency responders performed advanced resuscitation efforts at the scene on Rabin Street in Ramat D neighborhood, but the hospital declared the infant deceased. Shaare Zedek expressed condolences to the family and emphasized its efforts to assist them during this difficult time.
