Hapoel Afula opens talks with local midfielder Aviv Avraham
Hapoel Afula is working to build a team that can challenge near the top of the National League after several difficult seasons. The club was originally expected to play in Liga Alef this season, but was returned to the second tier after Hapoel Ramat Hasharon was relegated. A strong late-season comeback under coach Alexander Granovsky helped Afula avoid deeper trouble.
According to Sport 5, Afula is now in talks with Aviv Avraham, a midfielder from Kiryat Shmona and a native of Afula who could return to the club where he grew up. The report says he may also link up with veteran defender Ben Wahba, who helped Maccabi Petah Tikva win promotion to the top division, and who is close to signing. The club is also negotiating with midfielder Matan Beit Yaakov, who was released by Maccabi Yaffo.
At the same time, defender Idan Reta and midfielder Roy Rabinowitz have extended their contracts. Yaniv Barik is also expected to stay after an excellent season in which he contributed significantly under Granovsky. The report was published on June 15, 2026, at 11:06.
