Smotrich Says Iran Deal Harms Israel and the Free World
Cabinet minister and Religious Zionism chairman Bezalel Smotrich said the emerging agreement with Iran is “bad for Israel and for the entire free world,” and backed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s handling of the issue. He called for continuing the campaign to bring down the Iranian regime and to ensure that Iran never obtains nuclear weapons.
Smotrich argued that the joint effort against Iran has already achieved significant gains and said those gains should not be wasted. “We will need to continue the campaign to topple the regime ourselves and in creative ways,” he said, adding that no would-be prime ministers could withstand even a tenth of the pressure now on the Israeli government and its leader.
Turning to Lebanon, Smotrich said the coming test will be there, describing it as “our war,” fought by “our fighters,” with the immediate security of northern residents at stake. He said he will continue working so Israel remains steadfast and so the Israel Defense Forces have full freedom of action to keep pushing Hezbollah farther away.
