Prof. Naomi Feldman Reappointed to Bank of Israel’s Monetary Committee
The government has approved the reappointment of Prof. Naomi Feldman of the Hebrew University to the Monetary Committee at the Bank of Israel. Feldman served on the committee until a few months ago, and the plan to return her to the post was first reported by Calcalist.
After her reappointment, the committee will have two public representatives, Feldman and Prof. Uri Heifetz, also of the Hebrew University. Calcalist also reported that the search committee for Monetary Committee members recommended appointing Dr. Gil Bofman, but his nomination has not yet been brought for government approval because of disagreements between the government and the Bank of Israel.
The Monetary Committee has six members in total, three from the Bank of Israel and three from the public. That structure was designed to strengthen public confidence in the bank’s policy decisions, which is why fully staffing the committee is considered important.
