Israeli Police Arrest Palestinian Man in Jerusalem for Driving on Suspended License and Identity Fraud
Israeli police officers from the Central Unit of the Traffic Department in Jerusalem arrested a 27-year-old Palestinian man from the Abu Tor neighborhood after a routine traffic stop in the Givat Shaul area. The suspect was caught driving despite having a suspended license and attempted to deceive the officers by impersonating another person. Police footage shows the officers informing the man that he was detained on suspicion of identity fraud and driving while disqualified.
Further investigation revealed this was the fourth time in recent years the man was caught driving with a suspended license, which had been invalid since 2023. Additionally, he was supposed to be under house arrest at the time due to ongoing legal proceedings related to similar traffic offenses. Following the arrest, he was taken for questioning and subsequently detained. The Jerusalem Traffic Prosecution Unit plans to file charges and request an extension of his detention until the conclusion of the legal process.
