Maks Heydiger Joins Hapoel Tel Aviv Amid Negotiations with Bnei Herzliya
Hapoel Tel Aviv has secured an agreement with guard Maks Heydiger, 29, ahead of the 2026/2027 basketball season. Heydiger, who stands 1.91 meters tall, has finalized his contract terms with the team. The club is currently negotiating with his former team, Bnei Herzliya, due to a clause in his previous contract that restricts him from playing for any Israeli team other than Herzliya this season.
Hapoel Tel Aviv believes Heydiger will be granted an exemption by the league's committee, allowing him to be classified as a regular Israeli player rather than a naturalized player. This status would enable him to participate without occupying a naturalized player slot, which is limited in the league.
Heydiger began last season with Bnei Herzliya, where he was one of the top Israeli players in the Premier League, averaging 15.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game. Following the 'Roar of the Lion' operation, he joined Burgos, scoring 12.4 points per game. Hapoel Tel Aviv is actively working to complete this transfer as part of their preparations for the upcoming season.
