Search Continues for Missing 24-Year-Old Nahman Keinan Near Tiberias Over a Week
The search for 24-year-old Keteriel Nahman Keinan, a resident of Beit Shemesh, has been ongoing for more than a week after he was last seen near Tiberias. Keinan was last spotted walking near the Gai Beach area of the Sea of Galilee on August 10, and since then, no verified information about his whereabouts has emerged. His family and search teams have expressed growing concern for his safety, describing his disappearance as uncharacteristic.
Search efforts have intensified in recent days, with the Israel Canine Unit, led by Yekutiel (Mike) Ben Yaakov, conducting extensive ground sweeps, deploying tracking dogs, and using drones to cover additional terrain around Tiberias. Investigators have reviewed security camera footage showing Keinan traveling from Mount Meron to Safed by bus, then moving on foot toward the Tomb of Rambam and the Tomb of Rabbi Meir Baal Haness in Tiberias.
Keinan's last known phone signal was recorded on the evening of August 10 near Gai Beach. His brother, Daniel Keinan, told N12 that Nahman spoke to him the night before his disappearance, mentioning a possible stop at Meron and low phone battery. Nahman was expected to meet his rabbi the following morning but never showed up or contacted anyone to reschedule.
Keinan, a Chabad Hasid who previously lived in the Philippines before returning to Israel, is described as 1.74 meters tall with black hair, a beard, and brown eyes. At the time he was last seen, he wore a white shirt, black suit, a hat, and carried a black backpack and a dark brown tefillin bag. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Israel Canine Unit or local police. His family remains hopeful and continues to pray for his safe return.
