Gantz Warns Against Limiting Israel’s Freedom of Action in Lebanon
Blue and White leader Benny Gantz said on Monday that Israel must not accept any arrangement that would curb its security freedom of action in Lebanon. He wrote that “under no circumstances” should Israel agree to limits on its activity there, or to any withdrawal that could endanger residents of northern Israel.
Gantz was responding to the emerging agreement with Iran, which he called a strategic failure. He said the deal would force Israel into a political, military, and legal struggle in the coming years.
According to Gantz, only a broad Zionist government would be able to lead that fight. His comments focused on the implications of the deal for Israel’s security posture in Lebanon and for communities along the northern border.
