Son Indicted for Shooting Father with Homemade Spear from Fishing Crossbow in Drug-Related Dispute
The prosecution has filed charges against Moshe Levi for shooting his father with a fishing crossbow, seriously injuring him, following a series of conflicts related to Levi's drug addiction. The incident occurred after escalating tensions, including threats and deliberate collisions with the father's vehicle. Lacking a proper arrow, Levi fashioned a makeshift spear from a thin iron rod to use with the crossbow.
Levi was apprehended hours later in an apartment in Netanya, where cocaine was also found in his possession. The indictment accuses him of aggravated assault, simple assault, intentional vehicle damage, and possession of a dangerous drug not for personal use. The prosecution has requested Levi's detention until the conclusion of legal proceedings, citing the severity and dangerous nature of his actions, especially given the use of an improvised weapon against his father, who had cared for him for years.
During interrogation, Levi admitted to possessing the crossbow and creating the improvised arrow but claimed the shooting was accidental and unintentional. However, police state that security camera footage contradicts his claim. As the investigation progressed and evidence was presented, Levi often chose to remain silent. He also acknowledged ownership of the drugs found in the hideout apartment. The case is being handled by the Lod District Court.
