Man Shoots Father in Neck with Improvised Crossbow Over Drug Money Dispute in Neve Yamin
Moshe Levi, 39, from Neve Yamin, was indicted by the Central District Prosecutor's Office for shooting his father in the neck with a fishing rifle using an improvised iron rod arrow. The incident occurred after Levi demanded money from his father to buy drugs, leading to a violent confrontation. According to the indictment filed at the Lod District Court, Levi's addiction and repeated requests for drug money strained their relationship, culminating in Levi attacking his father and causing serious injury.
Levi reportedly threw bricks at his parents' home, threatened his father, and deliberately collided with his father's car. Lacking a proper arrow, he fashioned one from a thin iron rod. The day after a neighbor refused to pass on more money and warned that the father might involve the police, Levi arrived at his father's house armed with the fishing rifle. When the father tried to flee into the house, Levi shot him in the neck. After the father locked the door, Levi entered through a window and threatened him to claim the injury was accidental before fleeing.
Levi was apprehended hours later in an apartment in Netanya with cocaine in his possession. The indictment charges him with aggravated assault, simple assault, intentional vehicle damage, and possession of a dangerous drug. The prosecution requested Levi's detention until the conclusion of legal proceedings, citing the severity of the offenses and the danger posed by his use of an improvised weapon against his father.
