Man Charged After Brutal Attack on Teen on Bus to Tiberias
A 29-year-old man from Afula has been charged with violently attacking a 16-year-old boy on a bus traveling to Tiberias. The incident occurred on August 4, when the teenager was riding with friends from Haifa to Tiberias. According to the indictment, the suspect confronted the boy after allegedly smiling at him, threatening, "If you smile again, I'll break your face." After the group split at the Tiberias central bus station, the boy and a female companion boarded a different bus line, only for the suspect to follow and sit a few seats ahead. Minutes into the ride, the man threw his phone at the boy, approached him, and assaulted him, later repeating his threat to break the boy's face if he did not show respect.
The attack left the teenager with broken teeth and facial injuries, requiring medical treatment. Police from the Northern District arrested the suspect, and following an investigation, the police prosecution unit filed charges against him at the Nof HaGalil-Nazareth Magistrate's Court. They also requested his detention until the legal proceedings conclude.
