Putin Congratulates Trump on His 80th Birthday in Call on Iran Deal
The Kremlin said Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke with U.S. President Donald Trump and congratulated him on his 80th birthday. Putin's aide Yuri Ushakov said Trump told the Russian president that an agreement with Iran was close and that details could be made public as soon as later today.
According to the Kremlin, Putin expressed satisfaction with what he described as the ability to contain a confrontation that could have ignited the entire region. The Kremlin also said this was the 13th call between the two presidents in the past year and a half, and their first conversation in 46 days.
