Criminal Lawyer Alon Kriti Charged with Extortion and Threats Over Unpaid Loan
The Magistrate's Court in Rishon Lezion authorized the publication of criminal lawyer Alon Kriti's name after he was charged earlier this week with extorting a debtor through threats. The case stems from a personal and professional relationship between Kriti and the complainant, including prior legal representation. Kriti lent the complainant approximately 50,000 shekels in cash during 2025, of which only 30,000 shekels were repaid. Additionally, a relative of Kriti, who is also a friend of the complainant, lent another 20,000 shekels that remain unpaid.
When the debt was not fully settled, Kriti allegedly began harassing the complainant with threatening WhatsApp messages containing explicit insults and warnings that "guys" would arrive at his home within an hour. Kriti claimed he was "giving the orders" to those who would come to intimidate the complainant. The prosecution states Kriti contacted two individuals to visit the complainant's home to frighten him into repaying the debt. The men knocked on the door while the complainant's nine-year-old son was present but left when no one answered.
The threats continued after this incident, with messages promising the complainant would "leave the house" and further insults and warnings. One voice message recorded by Kriti stated, "When they knock on your door, I am filming with them. I also give the orders." The prosecution emphasized Kriti's "intense" and repeated threatening behavior over several days, including sending people to the complainant's home, demonstrating a willingness to use any means to achieve his goals. The severity of the charges is heightened by Kriti's status as a criminal defense attorney.
