Rabbi Shalom Arush Honors ZAKA Commander After Grandson’s Funeral

A day after the funeral of his four-year-old grandson, Shalom Seginer, Rabbi Shalom Arush personally thanked Yossi Landau, the ZAKA commander of the Lachish region, for his support. Shalom tragically drowned on a Saturday while the family was vacationing in Mexico. From the moment of the tragedy, Landau and ZAKA’s international unit worked closely with the family and Mexican authorities to prevent an autopsy and arrange the boy’s return to Israel for burial.

After successful efforts to release the body without autopsy, ZAKA managed the transportation and repatriation process. The coffin arrived in Israel on Tuesday, and volunteers accompanied the family until the burial in Jerusalem. On Wednesday, Landau visited the Arush family to offer condolences. During the visit, Rabbi Arush expressed his gratitude and presented Landau with a handwritten dedication in his book "In the Garden of Clear Faith," praising Landau’s dedication and praying for him to have strength and faith, hoping he will assist only in joyous occasions in the future.

Landau described the honor of supporting the family from the initial moments after the tragedy through the burial, calling the rabbi’s words deeply moving and affirming that the prayer to help only in happy times is shared by all.
