Israel Raises Home Front Alert Level After Strike in Beirut
Israel’s defense establishment is bracing for a possible Iranian response against the Israeli home front after Israel’s strike in Beirut’s Dahieh district. The IDF spokesman said the Home Front Command’s protective policy would change starting today at 6:00 p.m. until tomorrow at 8:00 p.m.
Under the new directives, full activity is allowed across the country, but public gatherings are limited to 5,000 people everywhere except the border-adjacent confrontation line, where partial activity will continue without any change to existing instructions. The Home Front Command said it is continuing “a continuous situational assessment.”
The Transportation Ministry separately said that after an assessment led by Transport Minister Miri Regev and ministry director general Moshe Ben-Zaken, together with the Israel Airports Authority and the Civil Aviation Authority, there is no change for now in Ben Gurion Airport’s preparedness. The public will be updated if needed.
At the same time, the IDF confirmed it had “targeted infrastructure of the Hezbollah terrorist organization in the Dahieh in Beirut.” According to the reports, the target was a senior figure in Hezbollah’s command and control network, and the damaged headquarters, located in the heart of the district, belonged to the Radwan Force. Arab reports said the United States was informed in advance. Lebanese outlet MTV reported the strike hit a building owned on paper by the Haret Hreik municipality, and Al Mayadeen said the attack left three dead and six wounded.
