Jewish Tourist Attacked Twice in 24 Hours Near Rome's Jewish Ghetto

Yitzhak Dahan, a 22-year-old Jewish tourist from Paris, experienced two violent attacks within 24 hours during a family vacation in Rome. Dahan, who works in finance, was visiting the Italian capital with his mother and brother for five days. On Friday evening, while walking in Piazza Cairoli near the Jewish Ghetto wearing a kippah, he noticed a man following him and shouting "Free Palestine." When Dahan turned around and tried to distance himself, he sprayed the man with pepper spray at close range, causing the assailant to flee.

Less than 24 hours later, on Saturday night, Dahan was attacked again about 300 meters from the first incident. Four individuals surrounded him, kicked him, and repeated the "Free Palestine" chants. Dahan recognized one of the attackers as the same man who had sprayed him the day before. Following the second assault, Dahan went to the local police station to file an official complaint. Authorities have opened an investigation and have so far arrested one suspect, an Algerian citizen with a criminal background.
