Police Catch Driver Using Phone While Child Passenger Stands Unsecured in Car

During a focused enforcement operation by the National Motorcycle Patrol in southern Israel, police documented a driver using a mobile phone while driving, alongside a child passenger standing unsecured without a safety seatbelt in the vehicle. The incident was recorded with a still camera during digital traffic enforcement on southern roads. Shortly after, the driver received a citation for distracted driving, which was sent to the vehicle owner.

The police emphasized that mobile phone use is not part of safe driving, stating, "Messages, calls, or alerts can wait. The lives of road users cannot." They urged drivers to put their phones aside and focus on the road. This case comes amid a recent increase in drivers caught using phones while driving. Additionally, the police have recently tightened enforcement thresholds for speed cameras and intensified efforts against distracted driving violations as part of their campaign to reduce road fatalities.
