Bedouin Youth Without License Hits Children in Shfar'am Playground and Flees

An 18-year-old Bedouin man from Bir al-Maksur was arrested after driving a motor scooter without a license into a playground near Shfar'am, injuring two eight-year-old children. The incident occurred on the evening of June 30. The children were moderately injured and taken to the hospital. Following the crash, the suspect fled the scene but was later located after hiding the scooter at a relative's property far from his home.

Police investigations by the Galilee district's forensic unit revealed the suspect had never obtained a driving license and was driving dangerously within the park. During a raid on his home, officers found ammunition and suspected drugs. A 22-year-old relative was also arrested on suspicion of helping to dismantle and conceal the scooter involved in the accident. Both suspects were interrogated and their detention was extended by the Haifa Magistrate's Court until August 16.

Rony Hinawi, head of the Galilee Traffic Department, emphasized that the Israeli police will continue to act decisively against reckless drivers and road violence to ensure law enforcement against offenders.
