14-Year-Old from Beitar Illit Arrested Over Stolen Scooter and Toy Guns

Police investigators from the Etzion station in Israel’s Judea region arrested a 14-year-old boy from Beitar Illit on Monday morning on suspicion of several offenses, including driving a stolen scooter without a license and possessing dangerous toy weapons.

According to police, about two months ago the teenager was seen in broad daylight riding a stolen scooter, entered a playground with it, crashed into a barrier while fleeing, and then escaped on foot. After opening an investigation, officers identified him through intelligence information and came to his home, where he was arrested.

During the search of the suspect’s home on Monday, detectives found several Airsoft pistols and ammunition for the toy weapons, which police said were illegally held. He was taken for questioning at the Etzion station on the alleged offenses and additional suspected crimes.

Police said a decision on whether to request an extension of his detention will be made after the investigation findings are reviewed.
