Yair Lapid Criticizes Gadi Eizenkot's Leadership Over Opposition Vote Splitting

Opposition leader Yair Lapid recently addressed the issue of vote splitting within the anti-Netanyahu bloc in a private conversation, stating he cannot fix the situation after Gadi Eizenkot. Lapid emphasized that if Eizenkot leads the bloc, managing its strategy is his responsibility. The remarks, reported by Kan News, were made several weeks ago amid rising tensions between Lapid and former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett's "Together" party and Eizenkot's "Yashar" party, which currently holds a significant lead in the bloc.

Lapid refrained from outlining how he believes the bloc should be organized, citing that it is no longer his responsibility. The "Together" party has subtly portrayed Eizenkot as a political novice struggling to manage the opposition's strategy, a message echoed privately to party activists. No official response was given by Lapid's team regarding the report.

According to a recent Kan News poll published last Sunday, Eizenkot's "Yashar" party leads the bloc with 23 Knesset seats, while Bennett and Lapid's "Together" party holds 13 seats. In a hypothetical prime ministerial preference between Bennett and Eizenkot, Eizenkot leads with 31% compared to Bennett's 20%.
