Israeli Artist Gavri Banai Condemns West Bank Settler Youth Violence and Religious Leaders' Role

Israeli actor and singer Gavri Banai sharply criticized the rising violence among settler youth in the West Bank during an interview on Guy Peleg's All In podcast. Banai accused rabbis of encouraging teenagers to engage in aggressive behavior by sending them to the area, describing these youths as "wild men" who neglect basic hygiene and discipline. He highlighted that these young settlers, identifiable by their traditional attire such as sidelocks and long fringes, are motivated by religious zeal, believing their actions fulfill a biblical commandment to reclaim the land. Banai called the situation a scandal without precedent, condemning the justification of violence through scripture as "terrible and horrific."
