Since the ceasefire took effect in October 2025, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet have observed Hamas attempting to restore its standing in Gaza. According to an IDF spokesperson, Hamas has resorted to severe interrogations and torture of Gaza residents as part of a desperate effort to consolidate power. The spokesperson emphasized that the terror group does not spare women and children in these actions. Additionally, Hamas is reportedly using civilian infrastructure such as hospitals, schools, and mosques for military purposes.
