IDF Central Command Chief Arrives to Clear Extremist Encampment Besieging Palestinian Village Kosra

Israeli security forces arrived Wednesday morning at an extremist Jewish encampment near the Palestinian village of Kosra, which has been imposing a siege on Palestinian homes. The operation aims to evacuate the outpost, but settlers have blocked access roads with large rocks to prevent entry. Central Command Chief Major General Avi Blot was present at the scene. IDF and Border Police forces are attempting to remove the settlers peacefully.

Kosra's local council head, Abd al-Azim Wadi, told Ynet that the settlers' tent remains intact as of now. Early Wednesday, commanders from the Civil Administration and the IDF met with Palestinian residents, assuring efforts to maintain security and calm. They also approached the settlers, who refused to evacuate. The area has seen increased IDF troop movements.

The settlers have occupied the site for three days, establishing a branch of the Tel Telfit outpost and besieging Palestinian homes. Wadi reported that water remains cut off by the local water company, electricity is supplied only by solar panels, and food supplies are dwindling. Security officials said the IDF is preparing to evacuate the outpost after soldiers were filmed praying alongside settlers in the tent. The IDF spokesperson condemned the illegal takeover of Palestinian homes and lands, labeling it harmful and unacceptable.

A military closed area order has been imposed on the region to prevent unauthorized access. The IDF stressed it will handle all involved parties in coordination with security forces, including disciplinary measures if reservists or regular soldiers are implicated. On Monday, the IDF coordinated ambulance passage through the closed military zone to provide medical access, but Israeli civilians attempted to enter the restricted area under ambulance cover, prompting security checks. The IDF continues to facilitate medical teams’ movement with prior coordination.
