Natzach Yehuda Fighter Punished for Smoking Cigarette on Sabbath
A soldier from the Natzach Yehuda Battalion was sentenced to ten days of confinement and removed from combat duties after smoking a cigarette on the Sabbath. The incident was reported on Tuesday by Kan News. The soldier, who has a Haredi background, was about one month away from completing his service in the Israel Defense Forces after serving more than two years and participating in combat operations in Gaza and Lebanon. Critics close to the soldier described the punishment as "disproportionate." The IDF has not yet issued an official response regarding the case.
