Two Tiberias Residents Charged After Cigarettes, Cash Theft Hidden in Toilet Tank
An indictment was filed Sunday against two Tiberias residents, aged 54 and 61, over a burglary at a local business last month. Prosecutors say the pair broke in through a rear window and stole hundreds of cigarette cartons, assorted tobacco products, and cash.
According to the charge sheet, the suspects then tried to flee the scene, but police who were called to the business carried out extensive searches and quickly located and arrested both men. One of them allegedly tried to conceal banknotes inside the toilet cistern at the store as officers arrived, in an apparent attempt to obstruct the investigation.
The indictment accuses the two of burglary of a building and theft, theft, willful damage to property, and obstruction of justice. The case now moves forward in court.
