Six-Hour Manhunt at Camp Pendleton Ends With Two Arrests and Drug Haul

A six-hour security operation at Camp Pendleton, a U.S. Marine Corps base in California, ended with the arrest of two suspects who had broken into the installation. According to the U.S. Naval Criminal Investigative Service, the incident began after the pair fled local law enforcement, drove through the base entrance gate, and crashed inside the perimeter.

The suspects then abandoned their vehicle in a military residential area and ran away on foot. In response, authorities imposed a temporary lock-in, lock-out order at Camp Pendleton while security forces tried to locate the men and restore control of the base. Officials described the episode as "serious and high risk."

About 30 security personnel took part in the search, which relied on real-time intelligence and special response units. The operation ended with both suspects being taken into custody without force. After the arrests, officers found 51 kilograms of cocaine and fentanyl in their vehicle.

Authorities did not release the suspects' identities and have not yet said what charges they will face.
