Yehonatan Klimian’s Yeshiva Head Mourns Student Killed in Keshet Cave Accident

Rabbi Chaim Eizental, head of the Hesafim high school yeshiva in the Golan Heights, expressed deep sorrow over the death of his student Yehonatan Klimian, who died in a rappelling accident at Keshet Cave in the Western Galilee. Klimian, affectionately known as "Tony" among his peers, was about to enter 12th grade and was beloved by both students and staff for his warm personality, strong spirituality, and social engagement.

Rabbi Eizental described Yehonatan as a devoted member of the Bnei Akiva youth movement in Katzrin, where he served as both a participant and a counselor. His love for hiking and outdoor activities was a significant part of his life, making the tragic accident during a hiking trip especially shocking for those who knew him. The yeshiva community, including teachers and students, is deeply shaken by the sudden loss.

The Klimian family has longstanding ties to the Hesafim yeshiva, with Yehonatan’s two older brothers also having studied there. This connection has made the tragedy particularly personal for the school staff. Despite the summer break scattering students across the country, many current and former students gathered at the funeral to support the family and each other.

Rabbi Eizental emphasized the ongoing challenge of helping students cope with their grief, noting that the yeshiva is committed to providing emotional support and maintaining contact with families. He acknowledged that the community is only beginning the long process of mourning and healing following this devastating loss.
