IDF Declares Christian Village Taybeh Near Ramallah a Closed Military Zone

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) declared the Christian village of Taybeh, located near Ramallah in the West Bank, a closed military zone on Monday by order of Central Command Chief Avi Blot. According to the IDF, entry is prohibited to anyone who is not a resident of the village. Prior to the official announcement, Reuters cited a security source stating the order aims to prevent attacks by Jewish rioters. The restriction does not apply to Palestinian residents of the area.

The IDF emphasized that Israeli and foreign civilians are banned from entering the area. Journalists may enter only if their safety is not at risk and if they do not interfere with military operations. The declaration follows recent incidents of arson, violence, and shootings in the West Bank, including the torching of vehicles in Taybeh, which has caused fear among local residents. Authorities have identified 12 suspects involved in disturbances across the West Bank.
